Job Overview & Description

General Description:

The Architecture and Construction Management Teacher will be responsible for teaching high school students the skills and theory in the architectural drafting, design, and construction curriculum. This position reports to the Academy Principal.


Required Qualifications:

  • The individual hired to the position of Architecture and Construction Management Teacher must meet the following qualifications and conditions:

  • A minimum of four years (8000 hours) documented paid working experience in the technical field, taking place after high school graduation.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT.

  • Advanced training or certificates in related areas strongly preferred.

  • Pennsylvania CTE Certification in Architectural Design Technology strongly preferred. Candidates who do not currently possess PA certification must be willing to complete required college coursework and testing to obtain full certification.

  • Ability to communicate with a diverse group of students, parents, coworkers, and the community in a manner which demonstrates dignity and respect.

  • Must meet all legal requirements, including criminal and child abuse clearances and other items required by law.

  • The School reserves the right to excuse any applicant from meeting one or more of the foregoing qualification requirements, provided the applicant possesses other qualifications in addition to the minimum set forth herein, and that the School deems those qualifications to be an adequate and acceptable substitute for the particular qualification(s) not possessed by the applicant.


Key Responsibilities:

The Architecture and Construction Management Teacher must have the ability to perform the following essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Instruct students in grades 9-12 in the technical knowledge and skills needed to develop working drawings and electronic simulations for architectural and related construction projects. Includes instruction in basic construction and structural design, architectural rendering, computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD and REVIT), layout and designs, architectural blueprint interpretation, building materials, and basic structural wiring diagramming.

  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with building teaching, administrative, and support staff.

  • Maintain accurate records necessary to monitor student progress, submit grade reports, and complete other reports as required.

  • Create a positive environment conducive toward learning.

  • Work cooperatively with other staff members and promote a cohesive team-based approach to the program and curriculum.

  • Contact parents or guardians when necessary.

  • Develop connections with local businesses and outside organizations to promote internships, sponsorships, and/or job placement.

  • Attend school functions and professional development sessions (on or off site) as required.

  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.
