Automotive Technology

Overview

Automotive Technology offers a wide variety of opportunities for the students. They can learn a valuable trade through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training. Curriculum is revised to keep current with the latest technological developments in the automotive industry. Some key areas of instruction are automotive maintenance and light repair, engine repair, automatic transmission/transaxle, manual drive train and axle, suspension and steering, brakes, electrical/electronic systems, heating and air conditioning, and engine performance.

  • Certification for Refrigerant Recycling & Recovery

  • S/P2 Safety & Pollution Prevention

  • S/P2 Automotive

  • OSHA Certification

  • Motor Oil Certification

  • Certified Safety Inspector, Cat I

  • Certified Emissions Inspector

  • Automotive Service Excellence Certification (ASE)

  • Automotive Scanner Diagnostics

Uniform

Students at York Tech are required to wear a uniform. Upper garments (shirts, sweatshirts, etc.) must be purchased through the school's Tech Gear Store. Lower apparel and safety equipment varies by program. There are many career opportunities for students graduating from York Tech's Automotive Technology program.

What to Expect

This is a standalone program that does not rotate with any other programs. Students accepted into it will take Automotive Technology courses during all four years at York Tech, with the exception being students who participate in a co-op opportunity during their senior year.
