COVID19 - March 25, 2020

The Pennsylvania Department of Education announced yesterday, March 23, that all schools in Pennsylvania will remain closed through April 6 as a result of the COVID-19 response efforts. This includes
all of our offices and any scheduled events. The closure could be extended beyond April 6, if necessary. York Tech will begin online enrichment learning opportunities starting Wednesday April 1st and will continue to do so until further guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is provided

We are currently evaluating how the new directive will impact our students, staff, and community. We are working with our Cabinet leaders and teachers to develop a plan to continue education through online enrichment learning.  Please note the following regarding online learning:
  1.  Student enrichment learning materials will be available online beginning April 1st via Schoology. Teachers will communicate instructions to you via email for online learning. Some packets may be mailed if requested. Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions about online student assignments.
  2.  We are aware that the lessons provided may not fully meet Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) for your child.  For those students who have individual educational needs (IEP, GIEP, 504, ELL), you may receive additional instructions from teacher(s).  In addition, wmay be reaching out to some of you to schedule virtual (Zoom, Google Hangout, Phone Conference, Email)  meetings in an effort to meet the required timelines.

If your household needs assistance for access to the internet for online learning purposes, we have identified some free technology access resources:

Our district staff serving in essential roles will continue to work throughout the closure. This includes administrators who are working remotely and are accessible via email.
These are truly incredible times.   We speak for all of our staff when we say that we really do love and value our students. Thank you for being supportive and understanding as we all learn to navigate this together. We will continue to update you as we learn more.

Thank you,

York County School of Technology
